FAQ
What is Savigne by Planet of the Grapes®?
Savigne is a biomaterial developed from grape marc, a by-product of winemaking. We transform this abundant, natural resource into innovative, animal-free materials designed for applications across fashion, shoes, accessories, interiors and automotive industries.
What is Savigne Made From?
Savigne is made with grape marc - the skins, seeds and stalks remaining after grapes are pressed for wine - and is transformed through our material development process and incorporated into our formulations. These formulations once made are coated across a base textile. Different processes create distinct Savigne materials, each with their own character, handle, finish and applications.
Where does the grape marc come from?
Our grape marc is sourced directly from our local organic and biodynamic vineyards in Provence, South of France, creating a connection between our material and the winegrowers and winemakers, while giving value to a resource that would otherwise be discarded.
Is Savigne suitable for my product?
Potentially. Different Savigne materials have different characteristics and applications. We work with designers, brands and manufacturers to identify the most appropriate material for a specific product or project. Explore previous collaborations here.
What can I use Savigne for?
Savigne materials can be explored for applications including fashion, bags and accessories, footwear, interiors, lifestyle products and luxury packaging. If you're working on an application that isn't listed here, we'd still love to hear about it. Get in touch.

Can I request a sample?
Yes. We encourage designers and brands to explore the materials through samples before progressing a project. Get in touch with details of your application and we'll help identify the most relevant material to explore.
Can I get technical information about the materials?
Yes of course. Technical information is available for our materials, including relevant performance and testing information. Contact us to request the technical information relevant to your application. You can find these for each Savigne expression here, or contact our team.
Are Savigne materials tested?
Our materials undergo independent testing relevant to their intended applications. Testing can include areas such as abrasion, flex resistance, rub fastness, water resistance, humidity and lightfastness. Specific testing and performance information depends on the material and application.
Can Savigne be produced at scale?
Yes. Our development process progresses from initial samples, through to small-batch development and then onto industrial production or directly to industrial production. If you have a specific production requirement, get in touch so we can discuss the project and its requirements.
What is the minimum order quantity?
MOQ can vary depending on the material, application and stage of development. Contact us with your requirements and we'll advise on the most appropriate route. It is possible to prototype a shape or a product with 1lm and then order the MOQ of your chosen material.
