Rose et Marius x Planet of the Grapes - Grape-Based Biomaterials Move Into Luxury Perfume Packaging

Rose et Marius is built around scent, memory and the atmosphere of Provence. Its collaboration with Planet of the Grapes brought that sensory world into material form through a bespoke perfume bottle cover made with Canyon, a grape-based biomaterial within the Savigne by Planet of the Grapes® family.

Founded by Magali in Aix-en-Provence, Rose et Marius creates fragrances inspired by childhood memories, family homes and the art de vivre of the south of France. The brand’s boutique reflects that world in detail, from its colours to its tiles, echoing the Provençal bastide of Magali’s grandmother.

For Planet of the Grapes, the alignment felt natural. Both brands are rooted in Provence. Both work with memory, material and place.

Canyon brought those ideas into touch. Developed from grape marc - the skins, seeds and stems left behind after winemaking - Canyon has a matte, irregular and quietly expressive surface, with a texture that feels shaped by pressure, time and touch. In a luxury packaging context, that tactility matters. It gives the object more than protection or decoration; it gives it atmosphere.

A perfume cover for Rose et Marius

The collaboration centred on a cover for one of Rose et Marius’ most loved fragrances, Le Vin Rosé.

The result was a tone-on-tone object that enhanced the perfume bottle without overwhelming it. It added touch, texture and material story to an already sensory product.

In luxury packaging, these details matter.

The outer object becomes part of how a fragrance is experienced before it is even worn. It builds anticipation, communicates craft and gives the product a stronger sense of occasion.

The name itself created a natural connection. Le Vin Rosé links back to rosé wine, Provençal vineyards and the culture of the south of France - the same world that informs Savigne by Planet of the Grapes®. Both the perfume and the material begin from a shared inspiration: vineyard life, sensory memory, place, and respect for savoir-faire.

Planet of the Grapes created the cover in a grape-toned material that sat beautifully with the colour of the bottle top and packaging. The result was a tone-on-tone object that enhanced the perfume bottle without overwhelming it.

Samantha Mureau says:

“It kind of adds a really nice finish to the bottle and also enhances it.”

In luxury packaging, these details matter. The outer object becomes part of how a fragrance is experienced before it is even worn. It builds anticipation, communicates craft and gives the product a stronger sense of occasion.

Here, the material did more than carry a sustainability story. It belonged to the same cultural and sensory world as the fragrance itself: rosé, Provence, vineyards, memory and craft.

Luxury biomaterials, from material supplier to maker

This collaboration was also significant because Planet of the Grapes was not only supplying the material. The team also made the perfume cover, taking responsibility for cutting, sewing and personalisation.

That shift from material supplier to maker added a new dimension to the project. It allowed Planet of the Grapes to understand the material through production at a small-object scale, where precision and finish are especially important.

For a biomaterial company, this kind of making experience is valuable. It creates direct knowledge of how the material behaves in a finished luxury object, not only as a sheet or sample. A vertical integration process we are proud to call unique.

Provence as a material story

The Rose et Marius collaboration is especially strong because it does not rely on sustainability messaging alone.

Its power comes from alignment: grape-based material, Provençal fragrance, colour, memory, craft and place.

Canyon feels connected to the product world it enters. It does not sit outside the brand story as an ‘eco’ addition. It becomes part of the atmosphere - a material detail that belongs to the same landscape as the fragrance itself.

This is one of the strongest directions for bio-based materials in luxury. When sustainability is integrated through sensory and cultural relevance, the material can carry both responsibility and desire.

A sensory material detail for Provençal luxury

Rose et Marius shows how Canyon can enter luxury packaging in a refined, intimate and highly place-based way.

The perfume cover is small, but the story is expansive: Provence, fragrance, grape residue, handwork and personalisation meeting in one object.

For Planet of the Grapes, it demonstrates how grape-based biomaterials can support luxury brands looking for packaging or product details with deeper origin, tactility and meaning. Canyon brings texture to the fragrance experience, not as a decorative extra, but as part of the product’s sensory world.
